Gurvinder Singh, 21, resident of Banna village of sector 25 here, was allegedly beaten and poisoned to death on Tuesday.
On the complaint of family members the police registered the case under section 302 (for murder), section 201 (for disappearance of evidence), section 328 (for
giving poison) and section 120-B (for criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Manish Chaudhary, resident of Ramgarh, and Sanju alias Sanjay, resident of Pinjore. The police are also investigating the case from the angle of drug addiction.
According to complaint, Chaudhary and Sanju called Gurvinder Singh in the morning. He left for Morni T-point along with his cousin on motorcycle. He had just woken up and went in track suit without having his breakfast. At Morni T-point a Bolero was parked and he had a discussion with both Chaudhary and Sanju for about 30-45 minutes. After that he told his cousin that he was leaving for Morni.
Around 3 pm, his mother Sangeeta Devi called him to know about where he had been. He replied her that he was coming to home.
In the evening, as per allegations he was thrown outside the emergency of the General Hospital, sector 6, Panchkula, by people in Bolero jeep.
A passer-by saw the victim and informed Amar Singh Saini, former councilor, that a person of Banna village was admitted at hospital.
Saini, also from Banna village, was in the hospital to see his relative. He indentified the victim as his neighbor. He told, “White froth was coming out of victim’s mouth and blood was coming out of his nose. Then I informed his family members.”
The General Hospital referred the victim to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.
Then victim’s brother-in-law Jasvir Singh then reached there. Soon, his other brother-in-laws Jagdeep Singh, Kuldeep Singh and Jarnail Singh also reached PGIMER.
The PGIMER declared him brought dead. It was around 5:30 pm and victim’s body was shifted to mortuary. After midnight, the family members lodged complaint with the police and a case was registered. The police first arrested Chaudhary who also got recovered the Bolero jeep. Later, the police also arrested Sanju.
The police got shifted the victim to General Hospital, sector 6, Panchkula, for post mortem which revealed that the person was poisoned. According to Dr Sunil Gambhir, head of post mortem department, there was no sign that the victim was poisoned forcefully but there was a17 cm injury in spleen which caused internal bleeding. He added that the injury was probably caused by an iron rod. He told that the victim had a mark on wrist which showed that he might have cut it in the past.
“Possibly it could be a case of poisoning. We are investigating the case. We have rounded up one person. The motive is not clear,” said Commissioner of Police Ambala-Panchkula, Rajbir Deswal.
The victim Gurvinder Singh had got married two months ago. He has been survived by mother, wife and 3 sisters. “He was a nice person. He was just 2-year-old when his father Rula Ram died. His father was a driver of Kalka MLA Pradeep Chaudhary,” said Amar Singh Saini, former councilor. Gurvinder Singh was working as farmer.
