From the hush-hush romantic meetings in the morning to the vibrant musical evenings, Purana Qila has witnessed a lot of things and has always been a favourite historical spot in the city.
This time too, it acts as a backdrop for a 13-year-old music festival, Ruhaniyat.
will convey the teachings and the wisdom of the highly evolved saints and mystics of a bygone era, in the form of Sufi songs, qawwali songs, Baul songs, and Thayyam.
"Delhi is the most loving audience. The kind of response that we received from the city compelled us to inaugurate the festival, not in Mumbai, but in Delhi." says Mahesh Babu, festival director.
The show is set to feature Kachra Khan and his group from Rajasthan (Sufi Kalam and Mistic Songs), Parvathy Baul from West Bengal (Baul songs), Ajeesh V. and group from Kerala (Theyyam), Rizwan- Muazzam, nephews of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan of Pakistan and group (Sufi Qawwali ).
The highlight for this year will be the first ever Indo-Turkish production titled, ‘Rumi-Emre meets Khusrau-Kabir”. Latif Bolat and Whirling Dervish who are from Turkey are collaborating with Madan Gopal Singh and Chaar Yaar for this production. “I will be singing some really powerful Kalams of Baba Bulleshah,” says singer Kachra Khan.Catch it live What:
