AAP says CD was doctored, Kumar Vishwas files police complaint
“Portions of the original footage have been edited and deleted to show AAP candidates in bad light. There is political motivation behind the operation,” party leader Yogendra Yadav said.
The sting, carried out by web portal mediasarkar.com, allegedly shows AAP leaders Shazia Ilmi and Kumar Vishwas, raising funds through illegal means.
The party reiterated it will sue the media portal’s CEO officer Anuranjan Jha as well as some other media houses. Vishwas has already filed a defamation complaint against Jha at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad. Jha also lodged a complaint against Vishwas, alleging that the AAP leader threatened him after the sting went viral.
The party got the full, raw footage from the election commission. The web portal had earlier submitted the footage to the EC.
Party leader Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “I am told `1400 crore have been distributed to a few media houses [to defame AAP].”
However, the portal remained confident of the sting video and said the AAP was showing selective portions to the press.
