Look who's the star in Dimple Kapadia's new film
It’s not just actor Dimple Kapadia who’s making news these days for her return to the big screen as a solo lead, but there’s yet another character who’s taking centre stage. It’s a fish called Mishti in the film, What The Fish, who plays a crucial role, and is fetching adulation on the sets — not just from the crew members, but also from Dimple herself.
“While the film was being shot, Dimple Kapadia kept nudging the director Gurmeet Singh that the fish deserved a symbolic tune independent to its character. While after much effort no song could be placed in the movie, it is only now after the final print of the film has been made ready that Dimple herself has come up with a way to adapt a popular poem to the movie for the fish,” says a source from the sets.
“Dimple suggested to Gurmeet that they could adapt the famous poem, Machli Jal ki Raani Hain, and make a more modern version of it to play as a great background score. Gurmeet instantly fell in love with the idea and the new version of the poem with a contemporary tune was created in less than two days,” the source adds.
The poem has been added in the movie as a peculiar background score in places to create intrigue and drama within scenes. “During the shoot, Dimple Ji would often break into singing the poem for the fish, so we decided to add it as a part of the background score,” says Singh.
