The Tiwaris hail from Uttarakhand and have been living in their Gurgaon Sector 43 house since 2008.
“Five masked people attacked us when we were fast asleep and demanded cash and jewellery. They tied up my son, daughter-in-law and one of our grandsons upstairs, while I was tied up with my other grandson downstairs. Outraged by the fact that we did not have much to give, they stabbed Kapil and attacked Kavita. They entered around 4am and left only at around 6.30am. They had entered after cutting the window grill of the drawing room,” said Kapil’s distraught father MC Tiwari.
Police commissioner Alok Mittal said, “I have constituted seven teams to nab the culprits: four crime unit teams; one cyber cell team and two teams from the Sushant Lok police station. We have got vital clues and we will solve the case soon. According to the victims, the dacoits decamped with Rs. 10,000 and some jewellery that the lady in the house was wearing, apart from three mobiles and a mobile battery.”
Mittal visited the place along with other senior officials including DCP (East) Nazneen Bhasin. According to Dr Rakesh Durkhure of Paras Hospital, where Kapil is undergoing treatment, “There are nine stab wounds in the abdomen and 25 injuries in the intestines that have damaged them to a large extent. The patient’s condition is still critical and he is in the ICU on ventilator after the surgery.”
