“We are proved right. As reflected in the results of the recent polls, the people of India have given a mandate against Congress. The Lok Sabha polls should take place immediately. Now it is only Mamata Banerjee whose relevance has increased manifold in national politics and so is her united India front or federal front,” said a Lok Sabha MP close to Banerjee.
The Bengal chief minister is scheduled to visit Delhi on Monday. Though she has denied any political reasons for her visit, observers said all eyes will be on her in the assembly poll results situation. Trinamool, which expects more than 34 seats in Bengal alone, apart from other states, believes it would hold sway in a regional party front post the LS polls.
Trinamool is keeping back door channels open with leaders like Jaganmohan Reddy, Navin Patnaik, J Jayalalithaa and Nitish Kumar. Sources stated that during her stay in Delhi, Banerjee is looking forward to informal talks with various leaders and hopes to work on her federal front initiative.
