Vijay Dixit, wanted in around 30 cases of cheating under the Negotiable Instruments Act, was arrested from a farmhouse in Mahipalpur on Saturday.
Praveer Ranjan, joint commissioner of police (EOW), said Dixit used his age and influencing skills to cheat the investors, projecting himself as a builder, developer and a financial advisor having membership in a reputed exchange.
Dixit, without any land or permission from authorities, started marketing residential plots — named SBL City — in Sonepat in Haryana and recieved investments from many people. “After collecting money, he vanished from the scene,” Ranjan said.
In another case, he made more than Rs. 90 lakh from one Dr Manjula Pathak Kripendorf, promising a property development in Defence Colony.“Similarly, Dixit floated a company in the name of M/s Senior Power Projects Limited and promised high returns to the complainants by inviting investments in commodity trading at MCX. After receiving investments of Rs. 1.70 crore, he shut down his office and fled away duping more than 100 investors,” said Ranjan. HTC
