The chakka jam protest by the Congress evoked a good response in Sangrur district.
Congress leaders in all assembly constituencies in the district staged road blockade in their respective areas.
The protest was organized in all assembly constituencies  in the district including  Sangrur, Malerkotla, Dhuri, Sunam, Amargarh, and Bhadaur.  

In Sangrur, Congress protesters, led by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) vice-president Surinderpal Singh Sibia blocked the busy Sangrur-Barnala road for two hours causing inconvenience to the commuters.

Talking to Hindustan Times, district party president Mai Roop Kaur said, "The Chckka jam call given by party's state president Partap Bajwa evoked good response in all assembly constituencies of the district."

When asked about further course of action, She said, "The struggle will continue until drug mafia sitting in the government will not step down. We will also take up this issue at the centre"
