Singh met the L-G on Thursday and complained that the newly-elected Delhi Government was keen to oust her only because she summoned Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti following a complaint by Ugandan nationals residing in Khirki Extension.
"The L-G has returned the file to us asking why the government wants to reconstitute the DCW," said a senior government official.
Singh has also refused to step down as her term is still to end. "I have handed over a rule book of DCW to the L-G so that he gets to know that the government cannot remove the DCW chairperson. They have become dictators. They are acting according to their whims and fancies," said Singh, a former Congress MLA from RK Puram.
The Delhi Government recommended Hindi novelist Maitreyi Pushpa’s name for the post. "We want experts and non-political persons to head various commissions and boards. Politicians should not head DCW and other commissions and boards. Maitreyi Pushpa will be joining on a salary of Rs1," Kejriwal said.
