Gangster Dawood Ibrahim has been the inspiration for many Bollywood characters, most notably in films such as Company (2002), Shootout At Wadala (2013), D-Day (2013) and the Once Upon A Time In Mumbai franchise.

Now, director Apoorva Lakhia is putting the spotlight on Dawood’s sister, Haseena Parkar, who is known as ‘the lady don of Nagpada’.

The film-maker has even registered the title 'Haseena' and is actively researching her life. "We have registered the name Haseena. It’s a small film. She is Dawood’s sister and has a beautiful life story to tell," says Apoorva.

Since, Haseena herself has had a controversial life, Apoorva plans on changing some names in his movie. "I will talk to her for her consent. Some names will have to be changed," he says.

The director is in touch with Haseena and is getting to know her well. He is also in the process of gathering material for his project and developing the script. "I am spending a lot of time with her and researching her story, which is very interesting. It will be a woman-centric film," says Apoorva.
