“We will go to the people of Delhi and tell them how the AAP government befooled them. Not a single decision of theirs was for the betterment of Delhi,” Singh said.
Singh said his party would make people aware that they always supported the AAP and their promises. “We had suggested that the chief minister send the Bill to the Centre and we will accompany them to get it approved quickly. We never voted against the Jan Lokpal Bill in the House. We only voted in favour of the L-G’s message that the Bill should not be tabled without his recommendation,” Singh said.
After winning just eight seats in the December elections, the Congress, which governed Delhi for 15 consecutive years, offered outside support to the 28-member AAP to form a government. While the L-G is likely to keep the assembly in suspended animation, Congress leader accepted that they had a very little role to play.
Its leader Haroon Yusuf said no development had taken place in Delhi ever since the AAP came to power. “They (AAP) are now trying to act as martyrs. But in reality, by resigning, they ran away from their responsibility,” Yusuf said. “What will happen to the promises they had made to the people of Delhi?”
Singh said exposing AAP’s misrule will be their top agenda when his party goes out to seek votes in Lok Sabha elections. Singh said the Congress had already started planning for the upcoming elections and the grassroot workers were being mobilised.
