A city police team on Thursday carried raided Sahara Shaher in Gomti Nagar in compliance with Supreme Court orders to arrest Sahara chief Subrata Roy and served a non-bailable warrant issued for his arrest. The court has issued the warrant against Roy on Wednesday after he failed to appear before it in a contempt case.

Market regulator Sebi had moved the apex court for contempt against the 65-year-old and his company’s directors for not refunding Rs. 20,000 crore to Sahara investors as per the SC’s August 31, 2012 order.
Ajit Singh Chauhan, inspector of Gomti Nagar police station, along with a team of ten police personnel including some women constables raided Sahara Shaher to arrest Roy at around 4.15 pm. The police team was at Sahara Shaher for around two hours and raids were on till last reports came in.
Earlier in the day, additional superintendent of police (ASP), trans-Gomti, Habibul Hasan told media persons that the city has received the warrant issued by the court and the police would ensure the compliance of the orders.
