BSP chief Mayawati declared her prime ministerial ambitions on Tuesday and hit out at the “fixed match” being enacted “with aims of attracting the Muslim voters” by two other claimants to the country’s top post – Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. “Modi and Yadav are two sides of the same coin. Both are responsible for communal riots (in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh),” Mayawati said, while describing the BJP as a “Bahut Jyada Paap” party (sinner party).

“A situation might well come about when the other parties would become compelled to support the BSP. The desire of BSP supporters to elevate me as the PM might well come true,” Mayawati added.

She also emphasized that the BSP had remained an outside supporter of the UPA alliance to keep the “communal forces” at bay.

“Congress leaders say he (Modi) never sold tea; rather, he was a big contractor”, Mayawati said further.

Reiterating her demand for the imposition of President’s rule in UP, Mayawati said that the SP government was “corrupt and lawless.”
