Parents of a 5-year-old missing girl on Tuesday found their daughter’s severed head from a sugarcane field within the periphery of their own village. Shocked, the parents have alleged that police did nothing to trace their daughter as a result of which this unfortunate incident has
The victim had been reportedly missing since February 26 from her house at Jourasi village, 8 km from Rookee, in Landoura area.
The manner in she was killed appears to be the handiwork of some 'tantrik' (a person who practices black magic), say the parents.
According to reports, the 5-year-old girl, identified as Aanchal, had gone missing around 5 pm since February 26 from her house. Her family had also reported the matter to police that night itself. The police after completing its routine inquiry from the victim’s family though registered a kidnapping case under Sections 363 and 366 (A) on February 27, it had since then turned a blind eye towards the case.
Following this, Ramesh Saini, the girl’s father, along with some villagers started to search for the girl on Tuesday morning in and around the village and found her severed head from a sugarcane field and some clothes. Her head was reportedly shaved. They, however, failed to recover her body.
“If the police had even tried to conduct a formal search operation, she would have not been killed. Police did not even care to go into the sugarcane fields or press into service any sniffer dog,” alleged the victim’s father.
However, the police suspect that the incident might be a handiwork of some tantrik who first kidnapped the girl and later killed her before leaving her head in a sugarcane field to make the case confusing for police investigation.
“We have detained some suspects for interrogation. Once we get the autopsy report, we would be able to give a clear idea. The case is very complex,” said SP (rural) Ajay Singh.
