Days after the BJP welcomed Ram Vilas Paswan’s LJP back into the NDA fold, the saffron party was on Tuesday hit by serious rebellion within its ranks in Bihar. Leading the charge is BJP’s Mahnar MLA Dr Achyutanand: “I will contest the Vaishali Lok Sabha seat as a rebel against the LJP nominee. Even now, the party should review the deal and must not surrender its winning seats.”

Reiterating that he was not against the LJP or Paswan, he added: “If at all Pa swan fields history-sheeters, the BJP must contest against them.”

The Vaishali Lok Sabha constituency, which the Mahnar MLA had been eyeing for long, has now gone to the LJP as part of the electoral pact. Achyutanand believes it can go to a “controversial person whose reputation would do no good to the BJP”.

Though Achyutanand is the first BJP leader to publicly raise the voice of resentment, many others are sulking in private.

A senior BJP leader, who was to accompany Narendra Modi in his chopper from Patna to Muzaffarpur was later removed from the assignment. Feeling humiliated, he chose not to attend Modi’s rally at all.

Other prominent Bihar BJP leaders like Giriraj Singh, Ashwini Kumar Choubey and Rameswar Chaurasia also did not attend the Hunkar rally.
