Police on Tuesday claimed to have busted an illegal arms factory in Alwar. The cops have detained 17 persons, recovered three country-made pistols, 50 live cartridges and 50 motorcycles from their possession. Police said, “We got a tip-off that many criminals and offenders are hiding at Bhutaki village of Alwar district. Thereafter, a surprise raid was conducted on Tuesday morning.

It is learnt that some villagers were also involved in illegal arms manufacturing.

The motorcycles that were recovered were suspected to be stolen from various areas of the state, said police.

Superintendent of police Vikas Kumar said the raid was conducted in Butaki village early in the morning in which around 50 motorcycles were also seized. “We have detained 17 persons for questioning. Illegal firearms were being manufactured in the village houses,” he said.

It is suspected that the motorcycles were used in the trade of illegal arms and other criminal activities. Documents of the motorcycles are being verified to ascertain whether they are stolen vehicles, he said.
