A tractor-trolley mowed down a five-year-old girl at Jamalpur on Sunday evening. The victim, Anjni, daughter of Radhe Sham, was a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, Bhamia Kalan. According to reports, the victim and her father were in a shop in the area, and as soon as they stepped out, a speeding tractor ran over her.

Jamalpur police reached the spot and arrested the tractor driver, who was identified as Gagan Deep Singh, resident of Partap Nagar at Tibba Road.

Police impounded the tractor and registered a case under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
