Dibyojyoti Baksi, Hindustan Times
Mumbai, March 26, 2014
A few months ago, reports claimed that Shoojit Sircar was in the process of roping in Jaya Bachchan to star opposite Amitabh Bachchan in his upcoming film. But soon after, the director went on to deny the news. He, however, maintained that he was still on the lookout for an older actress for the part. Now, it seems like he is considering Moushumi Chatterjee for the same.

"He is earnestly looking for her contact because he wants to reach out to her as soon as possible," says a source, close to the development.

If Shoojit does manage this casting coup, then the film will see Bachchan and Chatterjee come together on screen after more than three decades. They last were seen together in a film titled Manzil (1979) that was directed by Basu Chatterjee.

"She did not work extensively with Bachchan sir back then, so it will be great if he can get them both for this movie," adds the source.

This film will also star Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan in pivotal roles. Despite repeated attempts both Shoojit and Moushumi remained unavailable for comment.
