Politics will be very entertaining this time: Shekhar Suman
Shekhar Suman will soon be back on the small screen, this time with a political satirical show on a news channel.
The actor is excited to be on the telly and to give his funny take on the upcoming voting season. "For the first time, I will be doing the same show on an English and Hindi show on the election season," says Shekhar, who did a similar show in 2004, Poll Khol, which was supposed to air for only a brief period but went on for five years.
The actor, who lost the 2009 Lok Sabha elections against actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha when he contested from Bihar’s Patna Sahib constituency, feels, "Politics will be very entertaining this time as politicians provide a lot of content and there couldn’t be a better time for satire. I will touch upon everything — the candidates Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal; people joining and being expelled from parties; the language used by politicians; politicians stooping to any level and the verbal violence taking place. My show will also be a kind of an exposé."
Talking about his own experience in politics, he says, "I joined politics on a lark and somewhere I knew I would lose. I didn’t know the rules of the game. I took it up for the experience. Politics is for power-hungry people and I am not cut out to be in the field. I would be fine if I am chosen for the Rajya Sabha, but Lok Sabha elections aren’t my cup of tea as they require a different kind of skill."
In addition to the TV show, Shekhar also has his second directorial venture to look forward to. "I have signed up to direct a film, but I will not produce it. It will be a realistic film. It’s the story of two boys who grow up on the streets of Mumbai and their journey to discover themselves," he says.
The actor adds that he isn’t thinking of casting his son Adhyayan Suman yet and he will work on the script for the next two months.
