The Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi will visit superstar Rajinikanth at his residence in Chennai on Sunday for a "personal meeting." “Narendra Modi is visiting cine superstar Rajinikanth at his residence in Chennai tomorrow (Sunday) evening,” the BJP's general secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu, P Muralidhar Rao, tweeted.

Modi is scheduled to address a gathering in Chennai after meeting Rajinikanth at 5pm. Any gesture from the superstar would be of immense political value for the BJP, as his millions of fans, if motivated, can prove to be a big source of votes.

BJP leaders had in the past hoped the party got support from the cine star who has a wide appeal not just in Tamil Nadu but in other states too.

The party, which has been a marginal player in Tamil Nadu politics, has aligned with several regional parties and is hoping to put up a good show this time. Modi will also address a rally in Coimbatore next week to campaign for the alliance candidates.
