At Ludhiana to campaign for AAP candiate Harvinder Singh Phoolka on Saturday, party convener Arvind Kejriwal accused state cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia of running the drug mafia in Punjab.
With a smile and folded hands, he began his road show in the constituency, in
support of Harvinder Singh Phoolka, his candidate in race for this Lok Sabha seat. Kejriwal used straight talk to sell his agenda to the crowd.
He said that on his Punjab tour, people come out with horrid tales of Akali leaders pushing their children into drug abuse. "I also came to know that Majithia invested his drug money into elections. An industrialist rang me up this morning to say he could not find any labour, as most young people in the state were addicted to drugs," he added.
"Jab paap ka ghara bhar jaata hai toh Waheguru, Bhagwaan, Allah and God in papiyo par jhaaru chalata hai. Ek saal purani party ka Dilli mein sarkar banana ek karishma tha jo uppar wale ne kiya tha kyunki ab vo aise logon ko nahi chahta (When there is AN excess of sin, the Lord wields his broom on the sinners. A one-yearold party making the government in Delhi was His miracle, a sign that now He doesn't like these people)," argued the former Delhi CM. The broom is election symbol of his party.
A sea of common people was on the streets carrying the pictures of Kejriwal and Phoolka. At every intersection, the convoy would stop and Kejriwal would deliver an address. "Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal," he raised the slogan in proper Punjabi.
'For justice, elect Phoolka'
Endorsing Phoolka as candidate for Ludhiana, Kejriwal said neither the UPA (United Progressive Allianec) nor the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) could get justice for the 1984-riot victims but the Supreme Court lawyer had represented the cause selflessly for three decades.
"In the 59-day tenure of the AAP in Delhi, we constituted an SIT (special investigation team) to get justice for the victims. It is sad that the SAD (Shiromani Akali Dal), which claims to be well-wisher of Sikhs, opposed the move," said Kejriwal.
Many volunteer participants had brought their vehicles to the road show.
