Alia Bhatt to star in film based on Difficult Daughters
Alia Bhatt may be all of two films old, with a third release ( 2 States) lined up, but the actor has already caught the attention of audiences and critics.
And while she is yet to sign a film under her family banner, with
, or work with her stepsister, producer-director Pooja Bhatt, she seems set to work with her mother.
The 21-year-old says she will soon start work on a film that will be directed by Soni Razdan (who formerly directed Nazar in 2009).
Reports suggest that the film will be a love story set in India of the 1940s. However, we have learnt that the mother-daughter duo will work on an adaptation of author Manju Kapur’s award-winning novel, Difficult Daughters.
says, "We have discussed it (the project), but haven’t planned anything yet. It’s a beautiful book that mom wants to adapt. I know she has been waiting to make this film for a long time now."
Razdan has apparently been trying to adapt the 1998 novel from the time it was published. "Once, long ago, my mom had told me that if she were unable to make the film (at that point), she’d do it with me when I’m old enough. That seems to be the case now, and I am looking forward to it," Alia says.
It’s being speculated that the film will go on the floors in 2015. Alia says, "Mom’s waiting for the right time... For a period film, you have to be really confident about your stature in the industry. And I’m still finding my feet."
