In 2009, the police had registered a case against Patil and others after Hazare lodged a complaint, alleging Patil had given a 'supari' to kill him.The veteran anti-graft activist has decided to actively campaign against Patil by launching an indefinite hunger strike in Osmanabad, but was denied permission by local authorities, who cited law and order issues.
"It is up to the people to think. In Osmanabad, this party (NCP) has once again given candidature to a corrupt person. We have to raise our voice against such elements," Hazare had told reporters in March.
Initially, Hazare's staff neglected the calls, but later lodged the complaint with the Parner Police Station.
Hazare's priavate secretary Datta Awari said the complaint was registered after consulting Hazare's lawyers.
