Congress candidate Ashok Singh, for whom Gandhi was campaigning, was also sitting atop the vehicle with the Congress vice-president. The SPG has not replied to the notice yet.
Bharatiya Janata Party's Awdhesh Singh Tomar had complained about the violation to the district administration. The police examined the matter and sent a notice to the SPG on April 15.
The Gwalior police have also sought to know if the transport authority concerned had been informed about the modification carried out in the vehicle used by Gandhi, as mandated by the motor vehicle act.
