This fact came to the fore during our voter awareness programme during the assembly poll. We talked with the villagers and convinced them to vote," Rajan Vishal, district collector said.
"Women in this village cast their votes for the first time in Assembly poll in December last year," Vishal said, adding the administration kept up the efforts for participation of woman voters during the LS poll too, resulting in a substantial polling.
Vishal said two polling booths were set up in the village for the general election on Thursday. In the Assembly election, polling percentage of women in village was 58 percent and this could go up in LS poll.
"Sarpanch Jamna Devi Meghwal also played a vital role in convincing people for allowing women to cast their vote," Vishal said.
