Chief electoral officer (CEO) Punjab VK Singh on Monday ordered the transfer of an executive engineer (XEN) of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and an inspector of the Punjab police. Both the officials are posted in constituencies from which their relatives are contesting.


Disclosing this, additional CEO Supreet Singh Gulati said that the secretary, PSPCL, has been asked to transfer XEN Daljeet Singh, Faridkot, to some far-flung place as he was a close relative of Prof Sadhu Singh, candidate of the Aam Adami Party from the Faridkot parliamentary constituency.

Similarly, the Punjab DGP has been asked to transfer inspector Bachan Singh, a relative of Sher Singh Ghubaya, SAD-BJP candidate from the Ferozepur parliamentary constituency to Amritsar and ensure that he should stay there till the completion of poll process.

Gulati informed that a total cash of over Rs. 1.10 crore had been recovered in the last 24 hours and was the issue was referred to the Income Tax Department for further action. This amount included Rs. 75 lakh , recovered from Amritsar city, over Rs. 23.67 lakh from Jalandhar city and Rs. 9.75 lakh from Bathinda. The deputy commissioner, Muktsar, had been asked to send a detailed report regarding the re-carpeting of roads and installation of electricity poles in the Lambi constituency.
