Known for its love-hate relationship with the media, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has taken to a YouTube-based channel, named AAP TV, to reach out to the people, especially its followers among the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).

The 24-hour channel shows an assortment of videos, including the various Google Hangouts the party has been conducting and interviews with AAP candidates.

"But the most important draw is Kejriwal's speeches streamed live most of the times," said an AAP member.

"We had already been showing our press conferences and certain rallies live. It is just that we have now branded it as AAP TV. This is particularly helpful for us to reach out to our NRI supporters."

The NRIs form a large chunk of AAP supporters and do a lot of work for the fledging party, including raising donations and exhorting Indian voters to vote for it. The Arvind Kejriwal-led party had earlier launched a weekly tabloid of its own.

"This is one of the best uses of technology and does not cost us much. All we need for live streaming of events is a team of two persons, both volunteers—one to operate the camera and another to upload the videos," said another party volunteer, who is often involved in this work.
