Upinder Kaur was allegedly set ablaze by her in-laws on March 4 for not fulfilling their dowry need.
Her family members have alleged that the leniency of the police could be judged from the fact that the police have yet to arrest two other accused, including Upinder's mother-in-law Manjit Kaur and her son Jaswinder Singh despite their name mentioned in the FIR registered on March 7.
The police had already arrested her father-in-law and SAD sarpanch from Deelwal, Amrik Singh and her husband Gurwinder Singh few days after the incident.
"We had met the local deputy commissioner Priyank Bharti on April 11, who had assured us that the remaining accused would be arrested within two days of the meeting but no action had been taken in this regard till date," Jasbir Singh, father of the deceased alleged.
He said they again met the DC on April 17 but he showed his inability by saying that both the accused are on the run and had been evading arrest. The police should arrest the remaining accused named in the FIR and they should be made to join the investigation.
Amrik, who was a Congress man, had joined SAD in the presence of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and SAD candidate from Patiala Deepinder Singh Dhillon during a party rally at Ghanaur on March 20.
Earlier, the family had alleged that the district administration and political leaders were pressuring them to reach a compromise to settle the case.
