As she gears up to watch Priyanka Chopra portray her in a biopic, Olympic medallist, boxer Mary Kom says that she considers the actor perfect for the role. “She is a simple and dedicated person. I can relate to her. I’m sure she will do a great job,” says Mary, who helped Priyanka with lots of advice and insights into her life.

“She came to my village and took tips from me on balancing one’s profession and household. She also cooked with me,” adds the boxer.

Due to her busy schedule, Mary hasn’t been able to watch parts of the film. “I’ve been invited to attend the shoot many times, but I’ve been unable to take time out as I’m busy training for the Commonwealth Games,” she says.

Ask her if, like other sports personalities who are trying their hand at films, she, too, is interested, and the boxer answers, “Nothing as of now, but I would love to act. Though I don’t know anything about the art, if there’s a subject that inspires the youth, I will take it up.”
