Gowda was indicted by the Karnataka high court in a case for misusing a housing plot allotted to him at the posh HSR Layout by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) under the CM’s discretionary quota.
The court on October 19, 2010 found that Gowda had illegally merged his plot with an adjoining plot allotted to his party colleague and Sringeri MLA DN Jeevaraj. They built a multi-storey commercial complex on the land, ignoring the fact that the BDA had not approved their building plan, the court noted.
The matter is now pending before the Supreme Court.
The second case involves grabbing grazing land reserved for landless agricultural labourers, SCs and STs. Gowda could not be contacted for comment.
