His counsel, senior advocate Salman Khurshid, sought an early hearing since Tejpal's interim bail expires on June 27 and as per an earlier SC direction he has to surrender on that day until he is released on regular bail.
SC had first on May 19 granted Tejapl interim bail for three weeks to enable him to attend last rites of his mother, who had died on May 18.
But, on June 3 SC extended his stay outside jail till June 27 after Tejpal moved the court saying he had to perform religious ceremonies in the memory of his mother.
Tejpal said the ceremonies were important as he missed his mother's funeral. Jail authorities in Goa delayed his release, he had claimed. SC had, however, declined him a six-week extension.
