The police said that Mishra raped the Latur native in a hotel at Nalasopara on June 20. He met her near her employer's building at Hill Road in Bandra (East) on the pretext of finding her work after which he drove her around on his motorbike before taking her to Nalasopara. He also threatened to harm the victim's family if she told anyone of the assault. The victim confided in her Kurla-based friend after which a complaint was registered on Wednesday and Mishra was subsequently placed under arrest. Senior Inspector, Bandra police R Dhavle said, "We will record statement of the security guard at the victim's employer's building who passed on the victim's number to Mishra. The victim had approached the security guard saying that she was looking for work. We will also record statements of staff at the Nalasopara hotel and will ask them to provide CCTV footage if the hotel is equipped with camera surveillance." Dhavle added that they will not record statements of the actor or the socialite. He further said that the police are probing criminal antecedents of Mishra, however, prima facie, it appears that he does not have a criminal record. While Mishra is a Sakinaka resident and had been employed as a driver with Khan for the past seven years, the victim has been working at the socialite's residence as a domestic help since November last year.
