“Last week, she saw an advertisement in a newspaper about requirement for a salesgirl at an optical showroom in Jwala Heri. She applied for the job and was called for an interview on Monday. Malhotra interviewed her and selected her. He also asked her to report for work at 10am on Tuesday,” said a police officer, quoting the woman’s complaint.
The woman said she joined work at 10am, but Malhotra arrived at 10.30am. Immediately after arriving, he called her to his cabin on the pretext of briefing her about the job.
“He offered her a glass of water which she drank and fell unconscious almost immediately. She regained consciousness almost half-an-hour later and realised that she had been raped. Malhotra was present in the room but she managed to excuse herself out of the cabin and informed the police immediately,” said the officer. Read: Woman raped, confined in CP office building
According to the woman, Malhotra had laced the water with sedatives. Police said the woman lives with her lover in west Delhi’s Budh Vihar area. She has been divorced for two years. Malhotra, who lives with his family in Paschim Vihar, owns two optical showrooms in Paschim Vihar.
The salesgirl position had been vacant for the Jwala Heri showroom.
