The FIR bears signature of a dozen JD(U) MLAs including Izhar Ahmad, Poonam Yadav, Arun Manjhi, Dawood Ali, and Jyoti Devi.
The Bihar assembly has been disrupted two consecutive days by the JD(U), RJD and Congress over the issue. At a party meeting in Haryana on Saturday, Dhankar had — in reference to Haryana’s skewed sex ratio — allegedly remarked that with a BJP government in Bihar in the future, Haryana men would be able to find Bihar girls for marriage.
The Bihar State Women Commission took suo motu cognisance of newspaper reports of the incident and slapped a notice on Dhankar, asking him to appear before the body in person by August 13.
In Muzaffarpur, lawyers Prem Kumar and Suraj Kumar alleged in their complaint that Dhankar’s statement was highly derogatory in nature not only against the pride of the state, but also against the dignity of Bihar women.
CJM Surendra Pratap Singh accepted the complaints and put up the matter for next hearing on July 18.
