Branding Congress candidate as “non-performer” and accusing her of trying to garner votes by projecting negative image of the SAD-BJP government in Punjab and at the Centre, the ruling combine on Tuesday asked Preneet Kaur to tell the people of the state that “what will she do if she wins and how her win will benefit the city.”

Ridiculing her over her “dismal” performance, SAD-BJP candidate Bhagwan Dass Juneja challenged Preneet for a debate on the development issue, stating: “She must list what she has brought to the city in her 15-year-long tenure as member of Parliament, including fiveyear as a minister.”

Juneja said Preneet remained a minister in the union cabinet and an MP for 15 years when she had grant (MPLAD) at her discretion and support of the UPA government; however, she cared least to perform her job as a representative and ignored the city’s development and now boasting her status ‘minister of state for external affairs’ as an excuse of her “non-performance”.

He sought to know from her whether her cabinet colleagues too had shared the same feelings of “being a minister” and ignored their constituencies?

He asked Preneet to accept the bitter truth that development was possible only when the elected representative belonged to a ruling party.

“Thus she must accept the fact that the Congress cannot ensure development of the city, as there is no Congress government either at the Centre or in the state,” he added.

Juneja held a roadshow from Sheranwala Gate to Anardana Chowk, where he was accompanied by chief parliamentary secretary NK Sharma, former mayor Jaspal Singh Pardhan among others.
