On August 14, an authorised agent and a member of the censor board advisory panel were caught while allegedly accepting Rs70,000 as bribe to to issue a censor certificate "Mor Dauki Ke Bihav", a regional film from Chhatisgarh. CBI officials had found the two accepting the bribe on behalf of Kumar.
Harshad Ponda, the defence counsel, said, "There is a procedure for issuing certificates to movies. A five-member committee is involved. It is not his [Kumar's] decision alone."
Further, terming the statements by the two people arrested earlier as false, Ponda said, "Just because he was against 'certain' people, he has been arrested."
