After the order, the 101-year-old club approached the NGT for relief. On Friday, the green body said the club would have to “deposit Rs. 5 lakh within one week with the Delhi Jal Board, apply for permission to use borewells and fix water meters” if the closure notice was to be stayed. Speaking to HT, club secretary OP Malhotra didn’t mention the fine but said, “The tribunal asked us to take permission for the bore wells . We will do so.”
The NGT will hear the matter next on September 22.
