Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reached out to Japan two days ahead of his visit to Tokyo. The PMO put out a series of tweets in Japanese and said that as his friends from Japan had asked him to talk to them directly, he did so. The Prime Minister recalled the warm reception he got when he visited Japan as the chief minister of Gujarat, adding that he admired the people of that country for their "innovation and level of precision."

"Friends from Japan asked me to talk to them directly in Japanese. I also thank them for helping with the translation," Modi tweeted. 

One of the tweets in Japanese is addressed to the Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. 

Modi is  expected to initiate a slew of business deals including a crucial one on export of rare earth during his visit to Japan from Aug 30 to Sep 3.
