After receiving the order — issued to all state education departments — the Delhi directorate of education (DOE) asked all schools in the city, including private unaided ones, to comply. It instructed all government single-shift schools to hold classes from 1pm to 5.30pm on September 5. Other schools are free to choose their timings. The DoE has also warned schools against any laxity in implementing the orders.
