Admitting that "some mistakes" were committed in selection of candidates which resulted in "not so impressive" performance of his party in the Bihar assembly elections, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad on Friday said those engaged in organisational work would, henceforth, not contest elections.

"Some mistakes were definitely committed in selection of RJD nominees which resulted in our not so impressive performance at the hustings," he said addressing a convention of RJD leaders and workers of Patna division called to discuss the party's performance in the assembly elections.

Lalu also announced that to ensure decentralisation of the selection process, only recommendations from block and district units would be considered and no applications (for contesting polls) would be accepted at the state party headquarters.

He said, henceforth, no person holding a post in the organisation would contest assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
