What's this we hear about Salman Rushie inviting your sister Riya over for a holiday?
These rumours are so bizarre. Riya met Salman at Aurus and they got chatting. And when people see two people who are single at a nightclub enjoying a drink, they talk. I wish though that
they would at least clarify things before printing anything. Riya's been linked with Yuvraj Singh too.
Yuvi has been a good friend for a long time. Even my parents know him. He drops by when they're home. What can I say?
You're supposed to be seeing Randeep Hooda. True?
"Yeah, we've (Randeep and Raima) been spotted having cosy dinners together. And guess what? He's the only costar with whom I haven't even exchanged phone numbers."
Yeah, we've been spotted having cosy dinners together. And guess what? He's the only costar with whom I haven't even exchanged phone numbers. With Randeep it's been all work. We're doing Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye
and I'm closer to the director, Madhureeta Anand, on whose life the film is based, than Randeep. And what's the scene with Tusshar Kapoor? He's been seen coming out of your van?
Tusshar is a very hard-working actor and when we were shooting for C Company
he would be on the sets before me and come to my van occasionally to rehearse a scene. That's it. His sister Ekta Kapoor has apparently thrown all the promotional material he designed out of the window?
I believe so. But I haven't seen any of the new posters and I haven't met Ekta yet though she's done a cameo in the film. As far as I'm concerned, C-Company
is a feel-good comedy releasing on August 1.
Khela's finally releasing too, this Friday.
"Tusshar is a very hard-working actor and when we were shooting for C Company
he would be on the sets before me and come to my van occasionally to rehearse a scene. That's it."
Yeah, it's taken a while. I shot for it so long ago. They're releasing a dubbed Hindi version simultaneously. There's a segment that will always watch a Rituparno Ghosh film. I play a costume designer. (Laughs) As usual Rituda
did all the homework but I was able to give some inputs too from observing the many designers I've worked with. While they are so particular about what others wear, most of them are quite careless about their own appearance. Aren't Prosenjit Chatterjee and Manisha Koirala the main leads?
They're in the film but the real hero is Akash Neel. I'd thought it would be frustrating working with a kid but Akash was so mature. He knew all his lines by heart. You have another delayed film coming up, The Japanese Wife?
That should release by the end of the year, Aparna Sen wants to take it on the festival circuit first. We started shooting only last year and I still have to dub for it. It's beautiful even though shooting in the Sundarbans was a nightmare. It was sweltering hot with no a/c, not even fans. And red ants on the bed, ewww!
What's happening with Meridian.. and The Bachelors.. and Migration?
Meridian is complete, I play an actress from the black-and-white era. Though the costumes felt strange I could identify with the character, she's from my grandmother's era. The Bachelors
is still incomplete, even after seven years. Migration
was shown on TV. It was a special appearance, I only did it for Mira Nair. You're making a special appearance in Mukhbir too.
(Laughs) And Sunglass
I did to oblige Samir Dattani who's a friend, and some nice people associated with the project. And Sunglass
. There was also a short film for the Mumbai Cutting
series, just three days work. I did it because it was a mad concept, something new. Is Aditya Dutt's Chai Garam which also toplines Celina Jaitly and Esha Deol, a special appearance too?
I'm still not sure if I'm doing the film. And Vicky Chopra's Seasons's Greetings..with Riya?
We were approached but we wanted to read the script first. I don't think that's happening either. What about Leena Yadav's Teen Patti?
I was offered the film last year. If the dates work out, I want to do it. The role is nothing new, but I like the way the story has been presented.
