Album: Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989)
Story: This Padmashri awardee is also known as Bihar Kokila. She had a great career as a folk singer but could not go beyond a few songs in the Bombay movies. Last checked, she was readying a compilation of folk songs.

Anaida
Claim to fame:
Man bole oova oova
Album: Oova Oova (1996)
Story: She started out as a radio jockey. Then she released albums like Love Today Hai Nahin Aasan and Oova Oova. She made her foray into Bollywood with Lajja and Chori Chori Chupke Chupke but has not been heard in any major film soundtrack since then. Last seen on Dhoom Macha De on NDTV Imagine.

Silk Route
Claim to fame: Dooba dooba rehta hoon
Album: Boondein (1998)
Story:  They tasted fame with the song Dooba dooba. They ruled the charts for a while and then vanished into the thick fog of Delhi. They still perform at campus concerts. Mohit Chauhan, their lead singer, is one of B-town's better singers. 

Kamal Khan
Claim to fame:
O o jaane jana
Album: Pyaar Kiya to Darna Kya (1995)
Story: He became Salman Khan's voice after S P Balasubramaniam. After this song, all his songs sounded the same. He recorded private albums.. with little success. He tried acting in Jo Bole So Nihaal..with lesser success.He was last seen and heard on Dhoom Macha De.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthy
Claim to fame: Aa jana chhoo le meri chunari sanam
Album: Biwi No 1 (1998)
Story: She acted opposited Shah Rukh Khan in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, sang this song for Anu Malik and never returned to singing ever again. She separated from Shekhar Kapur and has written a book lately.

Subir Sen
Claim to fame: Main rangeela pyaar ka rahi
Album: Chhoti Bahen ( 1957)
Story: He was a Hemant Kumar soundalike.. you can't make out whether he sang this number or Hemantda did. He became famous in Bengali movies but success eluded himin Hindi cinema.

Sanjeevani
Claim to fame:
Chori chori jab
Album: Kareeb (1999)
Story: She sang the female vocals in the entire album for newcomer Neha.. but has been in the shadows since.

Hema Sardesai
Claim to fame: Aawara bhanwre
Album: Sapnay (1997)
Story: This has been her most popular number yet.. she resurfaced with Badal pe paon mein hain in Chak De! India. She's done some private albums too but let's not go there.

Ali Haider
Claim to fame: Purani jeans aur guitar
Album: Sandesa (1990)
Story: He's from Pakistan. He sang for some more albums but none hit the charts the way Purani jeans did. Last heard, he was to act with Shibani Kashyap in a movie on Osama Bin Laden. He was also in talks with music companies to release his album Jaaney do in India.
