This was moments after the final of the Nehru Cup ended in ecstasy for Bhaichung Bhutia and his brigade. While in the ground, which was packed to the rafters, they had to scurry for cover from delirious fans, they soaked in every moment of glory at the team hotel.
As the Syrians slipped into despair, having lost the final for the second time in two years, the Indians erupted in joy. In the hotel, they hopped around, signing autographs and attending to congratulatory calls in the corridor of the fourth floor.
They screamed in joy, hugged each other and even did a little jig to celebrate what will go down as one of the team's greatest wins, if not the greatest. It showed in their celebrations as they jumped around in joy after prevailing in a pulsating encounter.
One was also witness to the Men in Blues' dancing skills. Syed Rahim Nabi started it while the rest didn't take much time to let loose and gyrate to the popular track the DJ played till the wee hours on Monday. Bhutia cut the cake that had a message reading: 'Congratulations Team India'.
They certainly deserved to party, because they had, in a thrilling contest that went right down to the wire, won their third title in the last two years by bringing the strong Syrians down to earth.
