Comparing Bhattacharjee's industrialisation drive to the colonial expansion of the British, he said, "the chief minister is playing around with land. If he seriously wanted industry, the closed units along both sides of the river Hooghly would have been running."
Adhikary demanded employment for the five lakh registered unemployed in the state.
Claiming that Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee would enter the secretariat as chief minister after the next Assembly elections, he said, "after the drubbing in the last Lok Sabha elections, the Left parties here are showing humility. Do not believe them."
