India had sent its troops to maintain law and order in the north and east of Sri Lanka after two countries entered the Indo-Lanka agreement which was aimed at resolving the island nation's ethnic conflict in 1987.
Kumar held talks with his counterpart Gotabhaya Rajapaksa yesterday and the two sides agreed to start annual defence dialogue between them. He also met External Affairs Minister G L Pieris.
Besides, Kumar is scheduled to call on President Mahinda Rajapksa during his visit to Colombo.
