The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) will ask the Centre to help expedite the hearing in the Babri Mosque demolition case pending in the Rae Bareli court. "The Board has decided to write a letter to the Centre requesting it to expedite hearing in the Babri mosque demolition case going on in the Rae Bareli Court," AIMPLB member Zafaryab Jilani told PTI.

He said that co-convener of the AIMPLB's committee on Babri mosque Qasim Illiyasi has been asked to seek time from the Union Home Minister on the issue.

"Discussions on the topic were held after a meeting of the Babri mosque committee in New Delhi yesterday," Jilani said.

He said that two issues would be raised before the Centre, first CBI should file an appeal in the Supreme Court against dismissal of its revision petition by the High Court and secondly day-to-day hearing in the demolition case pending in the Rae Bareli court.

"After AIMPLB working committee held in June last, a letter was sent to the Centre on both these issues, but nothing has been done so far. Therefore, it has been decided to raise these issues afresh," he said.

On May 20, 2010, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court rejected CBI's petition to revive criminal conspiracy charges against 21 people in the Babri Mosque demolition case.
