The Rashtiya Ekta Sankalp
rally that was flagged off from West Bengal for its final destination to Lal Chowk Srinagar is presently on its way at Dhanbad, Jharkhand.
"We are on our way and the response from the youth and different age group people is unprecedented. The enthusiasm
among the people is upbeat and the march is swelling as we are moving ahead," said Anurag Thakur, Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha National President while talking to Hindustan Times
on telephone from Dhanbad, Jaharkhand.
He said that despite West Bengal being a communist's dominated state, the assemblage of the people at the starting point was overwhelming as people gathered at the venue raised slogans of national unity amidst chants and hymns in praise of Lt Shyama Pradasad Mukheerjee.
Nearly 50 thousand youth from all over India are expected to reach Jammu on January 25 to go on board for a journey to Kashmir to hoist national tricolour at Lal Chowk on January 26, the Republic Day.
The "national unity march" is being termed as a tribute to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who laid down his life here while fighting against 'permit raj' in vogue at that time.
Undeterred by the threats and warnings of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and militant groups, Bhartiya Janta Party here is preparing for a big reception for the "Rashtriya Ekta Sankalp Yatra" or national unity march which was flagged off from Kolkota on Wednesday.
The BJP activists here are engaged in mobilizing public support for the march which would culminate at the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar on January 26, the Republic Day when Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha leaders would be unfurling the national tricolor there.
"We have mobilized our workers and the yatra would be grand success. We are not going to be cowed down by the likes of Omar Abdullah and Yasin Malik who have a same mindset," said BJP leader and former MLA Ashok Khajuria .
BJP will organize a "grand function for the participants of the yatra" on January 25.
The party is surprised over the stand taken by Chief Minister .
"Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and every citizen is free to hoist the national flag in any part of the country,' said BJP's national executive member and former state unit president Nirmal Singh.
The trouble in the Valley was creation of the wrong policies of the Omar Abdullah government .
"Why is he trying to confuse the whole issue and shift blame."
The Peoples Democratic Party is wondering over the stance of Omar Abdullah. PDP patron and former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed wondered as to why an " issue was being made out of it when the fact of life was that Omar was a member of the BJP led NDA government . There is hardly any difference between BJP and National Conference."
"The BJYM activists would be given rousing welcome at Lakhanpur and the caravan would be escorted to Jammu while sojourning at different places at Kalibari, Hiranagar, Samba, Bari Brahmana and Satwari wherein the youth would meet various families of the martyrs enroute," said Munish Sharma.
A big rally would be held at Parade Grounds Jammu on Jan 25 morning which would be addressed by national president Anurag Thakur as well the state BJYM president. Some of the central leadership too is expected to escort the youth to Lal Chowk, the confirmation for which is still sought after.
"However the youth coming from adjacent states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttarkhand would be reaching the rally venue at Parade Grounds on Jan 25, the others coming from far off places would be accommodated in Jammu only and all facilities would be put in place for their comfortable stay and further movement to Kashmir," said BJYM state president under whose presidentship the rally would move further.
The BJYM activists would cover a distance of 3066 kms in 11 states and hoist the tricolour at historic Lal Chowk to list the "strong connectivity of Jammu and Kashmir with India".
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier also the state unit of BJYM had 'dared' to conduct a youth procession for Valley on August 14 to hoist national tricolor at Lal Chowk Kashmir that was foiled by police and state administration.
"This time entire nation is following us and we are determined to list our patriotic love for state and nation by unfurling triclour in Valley," said an enthusiastic Munish Sharma.
