The police, on the basis of tapped phone conversation between the duo, have alleged that conspiracy was hatched by Shiv Sena to give December 28 bandh a violent turn.
The Sena had called a bandh to protest against the removal of Dadoji Konddeo statue from Lal Mahal. The civic body had removed the statue under pressure from the pro-Maratha outfit, Sambhaji Brigade, after it challenged Konddeo's stature as Chhatrapati Shivaji's teacher.
Judicial magistrate RL Wankhede, granted permission to the police to collect Gorhe and Narvekar's voice samples. Earlier, the prosecution told the court that duo's voice samples would help them corroborate the available evidence - voices in the tapped telephone conversation.
"We argued saying that voice samples will help us match it with the voice in tapped conversation, which is an important piece of evidence in the probe," said public prosecutor AV Ausekar.
