A day after he raised objections regarding the composition of the joint committee to draft the Lokpal Bill, yoga guru Baba Ramdev backtracked on Sunday, emphasising there were no differences among civil society members campaigning for the bill. “Swamiji has not objected to any of your decision on formation of the committee. He simply stated that our moral, organisational support to movement against corruption has been there since inception and will continue in future as and when desired by Anna and team of India Against Corruption,” Ramdev aide SK Tijarawala said.

“He also said that we have played no role in formation of committee so please don’t ask any question from us. He expressed total faith in Anna Ji and all team members.”

On Saturday, the Ramdev camp had questioned the “dynastic” inclusion of former law minister Shanti Bhushan and his lawyer son Prashant Bhushan in the committee, questioning why Arvind Kejriwal was there and why Kiran Bedi was left out.

It had also emphasised that Ramdev was with the movement from the beginning, making many feel Ramdev was miffed over not being included. However, even while assuaging Ramdev, Hazare had made it clear that experience and honesty were the issue in selecting the members, and not family. Kiran Bedi also backed the committee, saying experts should do the job.
