BJP has demanded a probe into alleged corrupt practices of the previous Congress regime in procuring rice from private rice mill owners for the free rice scheme. President of BJP's local unit SPK Damodar said the Rangasamy led AINRC government has finalised rice supply without additional incentive to rice mill owners by the previous government, after talks with them.

He said the party suspecetd that the previous government had caused a loss of Rs. 2.50 crore per month to the exchequer for paying incentive at Rs2.50 per kg supplied to the government.

Damodhar aleged there was `behind the scenes arrangement with mill owners` to fix the incentive and demanded a detailed probe into the issue.
